The Karakoram Highway, a vital link between Pakistan and China spanning 1,300 kilometers, has come to a halt at Bhasha in Upper Kohistan district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hazara Division. This sudden closure has left numerous travelers stranded, including elderly individuals, children, and women, who find themselves paused mid-journey. Additionally, hundreds of vehicles are also stuck along the route due to the shutdown.

Authorities have attributed the closure to ongoing rehabilitation work on the highway. This renovation work, aimed at improving the infrastructure of the crucial connection between Pakistan and China, has resulted in this temporary inconvenience for travelers.

Adding to the challenge, severe weather conditions and landslides in Gilgit-Baltistan have rendered several sections of the highway impassable. In light of these circumstances, authorities have advised against travel until the weather improves and the roads become safe for traffic.

The suspension of the Karakoram Highway, an essential national route, underscores the importance of prompt action by authorities to restore this vital connection. As rehabilitation efforts continue, attention remains focused on ensuring the safety and well-being of stranded travelers and the smooth resumption of traffic along this crucial artery.
