RAWALPINDI: Two army personnel were martyred, while six khwarij were killed in an intense fire exchange in the general area Mir Ali, North Waziristan District on the night between January 29 and 30.
“During the intelligence-based operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location, and resultantly six khwarij were sent to hell,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release on Thursday.
The military’s media wing said during an intense fire exchange, Major Hamza Israr and Sepoy Muhammad Naeem fought gallantly and were martyred.
“Major Hamza Israr (age: 29 years, resident of District Rawalpindi), a brave officer was leading his troops from the front and Sepoy Muhammad Naeem (age: 26 years, resident of District Naseerabad), embraced Shahadat,” the ISPR said.
“Sanitisation operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area as the Security Forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe-out the menace of terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.”
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the security forces for their bravery in eliminating Fitna-ul-Khawarij terrorists.
The president and prime minister paid homage to Major Hamza Israr and Sepoy Muhammad Naeem who embraced martyrdom, the President’s and Prime Minister’s Office in separate news releases said.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif prayed for the high ranks of the martyrs and patience for their bereaved families.
“We will not let the great sacrifices of the sons of the nation go in vain and will destroy the nefarious intentions of anti-state elements,” the prime minister said.
The government and security forces were mobilized to completely eradicate terrorism from the country, he added.
