Two security personnel on polio duty shot dead in Mastung

MASTUNG: Two Security personnel deployed with the polio team have been shot dead by an unidentified man on Wednesday in the Tiri area of Mastung, officials confirmed.

One of the Levies constables was martyred on the spot, while the other succumbed to injuries in the hospital, raising the death tally to two, both of whom were deployed with the polio team to ensure security.

The vaccination drive in the area has been suspended till further notice due to security reasons, Assistant Deputy Commissioner Manan Tareen stated.

The area has been cordoned off while a search operation has been initiated to trace the attackers.

Moreover, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the terrorist assault on the anti-polio team in Mastung.

In a statement, he expressed great grief for the sacrifice of the Levies personnel entrusted to the team’s protection.
