ISLAMABAD: The description of Waqaruddin Syed as the director general of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has been withdrawn by the federal government after the arrest of various officials on serious charges.
The Establishment Division has also issued a notification to this effect. The departing DG has been ordered to report to the Establishment Division.
In his stead, Syed Khurram Ali, a Grade 21 senior police officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, has been made the new Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency.
Earlier, Khurram Ali was working under the Punjab government and has now been recalled to the federal structure to head the agency.
Formal notifications have been issued by the Establishment Division in this regard.
