Former Pakistan Test cricketer Mohammad Khalil’s daughter dies of electrocution

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan Test cricketer Mohammad Khalil’s daughter has died of electrocution, the cricketer confirmed the tragic incident.

The 10-month-old girl died of electrocution while playing at home. Mohammad Khalil had gone to play league cricket in the US and returned home as soon as he was informed.

Mohammad Khalil is a former left-arm medium pacer from Pakistan, who despite playing only six matches in first-class cricket, was included in the national squad for the Test series against Bangladesh in 2003-2004.

He played three of these six first-class matches last season, where he caught the attention of the selectors by taking 14 wickets. Although he did not get a chance to debut in the Test series against Bangladesh, he made his Test debut against Australia in December 2004.

Mohammad Khalil failed to take a wicket in his first two Test matches, after which he was dropped from the national team.
Later, he impressed the national selectors again with his excellent bowling in the 2010-2011 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Due to this performance, he was re-inducted into the Pakistan squad for the 2011-2012 Bangladesh tour in place of injured fast bowler Junaid Khan, thus making his return to the national team after many years possible.
