Pakistan to witness heavy rainfall from tomorrow: Met Office

ISLAMABAD: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the latest predictions of rain and snow in the upper parts of the country as a strong westerly weather system has entered Pakistan.

The new rainfall spell is expected to bring some relief to Punjab and will also affect 70 to 80 percent of the northern areas.

Moreover, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and areas of Azad Jammu Kashmir there are chances of strong rain and snow in the mountains.

However, there are no chances of rain in the Sindh through this system. But, Balochistan is likely to benefit from this system, and there are chances of snow in the mountains of Quetta, Ziarat, Zho,b, and Qila Saifullah.

According to the PMD, the rainfall spell is expected between February 18 to 21, 2025 including the areas of Punjab, Rawalpindi Islamabad, Peshawar, Gilgit Baltistan, and Balochistan.

In Punjab and Islamabad, rain and windstorms are expected from February 19 to 21, with snowfall in Murree and Galliyat. Areas including Islamabad, Potohar, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh are likely to receive rain on February 19 and 20.

Light rain is also expected in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Taunsa Sharif, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara, and Bahawalnagar on February 19.

In Balochistan, rain and thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills are expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chagai, Nushki, Harnai, Zhob, and Musakhel on February 18 and 19. Most parts of Sindh will remain dry, but gusty winds may hit coastal areas.
