In Dubai, taxis are a popular mode of transportation, allowing residents and visitors to navigate the city effortlessly while avoiding crowded metro trains.
Though taxi rides are relatively more expensive, they save time and offer reliable service. Thousands of passengers use taxis daily to commute to workplaces or shopping centers.
According to the Dubai Taxi Company PJSC (DTC) website, the per kilometer charge for taxis in Dubai is now Dh2.09, following a 12 fils increase.
This adjustment reflects the rising fuel costs, impacting daily commuters who rely on taxis for their transportation needs.
In June 2024, the UAE government provided relief to the public by reducing petrol and diesel prices by 20 fils per liter.
Currently, Super 98 petrol is priced at AED 3.14 per liter, Special 95 petrol at Dhs3.02 per liter, E-plus 91 petrol at Dhs2.95 per liter, and diesel at Dhs2.88 per liter.
With the government expected to further decrease petrol prices in July 2024, taxi companies are likely to reduce their per-kilometer charges accordingly.
