WASHINGTON: There has been significant progress regarding a possible agreement between the US and Iran, with Donald Trump indicating that the possibility of a deal between the two countries is still there.

According to the Arab broadcaster Al Jazeera, President Trump claimed that he has received calls from individuals from Iran who want to make an agreement with the US. He said that Iranian representatives are seriously interested in this process and want to move the talks forward.

According to the US president, this contact from Iran is a positive signal, which indicates that there is still room for resolving issues through diplomatic means.

According to journalist John Holman, reporting from Washington, President Trump also said in a recent statement that Iran is willing to negotiate.

This position was also supported by JD Vance, who led the recent talks in Islamabad. He said in an interview that a major agreement is possible and some progress has been made in this regard.

According to reports, the US had proposed a long-term ban on uranium enrichment to Iran, in response to which Iran offered to reduce this period, but this proposal was not accepted.

This development shows that formal negotiations are underway between the two countries, where proposals and counter-proposals are being exchanged. While both sides had adopted a tough stance in the past, now there is some flexibility in the situation.

JD Vance added that some progress has certainly been made in the negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program, but Iran will have to take the decisive step for a final agreement.

He said that partial progress has been made on the US demands regarding the transfer of Iranian nuclear material and the establishment of an effective system to prevent uranium enrichment in the future in the talks held in Islamabad.

According to him, the Iranian side has come closer to the US position to some extent, but they will need the approval of other authorities in Tehran to finalize an agreement.
