UAE’s work permit & residency visa documentation reduced to 5 days from 30

DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has reduced the duration of documents related to residence visas and work permits in a major relief for foreigners.

The development came as the second phase of the work bundle platform was launched on Tuesday under which documents will be completed in 5 days instead of the current 30 days.

A joint effort involving various government ministries and federal authorities has facilitated the development and rollout of this innovative platform. Aimed at facilitating the recruitment of new employees for businesses and private companies, as well as enabling early renewal of work permits for existing employees, WorkBundle offers a convenient solution for both employees and employers.

Initially introduced in Dubai in March, the first phase of the work bundle is now being extended to all seven emirates. As for the second phase, it will involve about 600,000 companies and more than 7 million workers. The third phase is also underway which will cover domestic workers.

It may be noted that several procedures have been simplified as part of the launch of the second phase. For example, the eight work and accommodation procedures have now been reduced to one platform.

The government has designed the work bundle to avoid duplication of procedures and the platform simplifies services for onboarding new employees, such as issuing new work permits, applying for adjustment of status, visas and Issuance of employment contract, Emirates identification, residence, and medical examination. Additionally, WorkBundle services also facilitate renewal of worker’s employment contract, renewal of Emirates ID and residency, medical examination services and cancellation of worker’s employment contract, work permit and residency.

Currently, the work bundle can be accessed through the website. However, a mobile app will also be launched. This platform is simple and efficient as it offers one-time data request principle which means all basic information about workers/employees and companies will be asked only once and used for all services. will go This feature reduces procedures and requirements, and ensures efficiency in public service delivery and timely disposal of cases.
