Pakistan\u2019s power regulator has cleared an Electricity Price Hike February<\/strong>, approving a per-unit increase that will reflect in upcoming monthly bills for most consumers nationwide. The decision follows a review of fuel cost adjustments for December, according to an official notification issued by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra).<\/p>\n

Nepra stated that electricity will become 28 paisas more expensive per unit. As a result, households and businesses should expect slightly higher charges when February bills arrive. The increase will apply across the country, including customers served by K-Electric.<\/p>\n

However, the regulator has exempted lifeline consumers from the adjustment. Similarly, electric vehicle charging stations will not face the additional cost. This exemption aims to protect low-usage households and support the country\u2019s gradual transition toward cleaner transport options.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested a larger increase of 48 paisas per unit. After reviewing the request and examining the fuel cost data, Nepra approved a smaller rise instead. The authority then issued a formal notification to implement the revised rate.<\/p>\n

Fuel price adjustments are a routine part of Pakistan\u2019s power tariff structure. They allow utilities to recover fluctuations in global fuel costs used for electricity generation.
