{"id":100308,"date":"2026-02-09T20:39:31","date_gmt":"2026-02-09T15:39:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=100308"},"modified":"2026-02-09T20:39:31","modified_gmt":"2026-02-09T15:39:31","slug":"bangladesh-elections-close-contest-expected-between-bnp-jamaat-e-islami","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/bangladesh-elections-close-contest-expected-between-bnp-jamaat-e-islami\/","title":{"rendered":"Bangladesh Elections: Close contest expected between BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DHAKA: A recent public opinion poll conducted in Bangladesh for the 13th national parliamentary elections to be held on February 12 has predicted a close contest between the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/bnp-leader-akhtar-mengal-backing-no-confidence-motion-shahbaz-sharif\/\">BNP<\/a> and the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami-led coalition.<\/p>\n<p>Bangladeshi media reported that the poll predicted that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)-led coalition would get 44.1 percent of the vote, while the 11-party electoral alliance led by the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami could get 43.9 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The survey was conducted among 63,115 voters across the country, including 36,634 men and 26,981 women.<\/p>\n<p>According to the survey, 92 percent of respondents said they planned to vote, while 4.4 percent said they would not vote and 2.5 percent said they were undecided.<\/p>\n<p>Although the BNP alliance has a slight lead in the proportion of total votes, the survey shows that the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance is ahead in the constituencies where the result is considered almost certain.<\/p>\n<p>According to the survey, the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance can get a clear victory in 105 constituencies, while the BNP alliance can get a clear lead in 101 seats.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, a tight competition is expected between the candidates of the two major alliances in 75 constituencies, while the candidates of other political parties are likely to win in 19 constituencies.<\/p>\n<h3>Bangladesh Elections 2026<\/h3>\n<p>Bangladesh\u2019s Chief Advisor Professor\u00a0Muhammad Yunus\u00a0has said that the general elections in the country will be held on February 12 as scheduled.<\/p>\n<p>As per the details, Muhammad Yunus says that supporters of the ousted dictatorial government are allegedly spending millions of dollars to disrupt the electoral process.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the leaders of the ousted government are inciting violence, and the interim government is fully prepared to deal with any challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Muhammad Yunus said that the people are eager to exercise their right to vote, and they want to make it memorable by holding free, fair, and peaceful elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DHAKA: A recent public opinion poll conducted in Bangladesh for the 13th national parliamentary elections to be held on February 12 has predicted a close contest between the BNP and the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami-led coalition.
