The Karachi police protest clash left several people injured and many arrested on Saturday outside the Sindh Assembly<\/span><\/span>. The confrontation happened when supporters of Jamaat-e-Islami<\/span><\/span> gathered to demand solutions to civic problems and more powers for the city government.<\/p>\n

The protest was led by the party\u2019s Karachi chief Munim Zafar. However, police tried to stop protesters from moving towards the assembly building. As a result, both sides faced each other, and the situation quickly turned tense. Police detained several party workers, while some protesters and officers suffered injuries during the clash.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the protest caused serious traffic problems in key areas of Karachi<\/span><\/span>. Roads including Saddar, Burns Road, and II Chundrigar Road remained blocked for hours. Because of this, many commuters faced delays, and normal city life was disturbed.<\/p>\n

In response, JI chief Naeem ur Rehman<\/span><\/span> strongly criticised the police action. He said peaceful protesters faced force and tear gas. He added that the situation showed the provincial government\u2019s failure and fear. He also said Karachi residents have the right to demand an empowered local government.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon<\/span><\/span> defended the police. He said the party had clear instructions not to enter the Red Zone. However, he claimed protesters tried to move forward and threw stones, which caused injuries and forced police to act.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar<\/span><\/span> said authorities had already warned the party. He stated that no one would be allowed to break the law. He also urged citizens to remain peaceful and avoid unrest.<\/p>\n

Earlier, police also seized a truck carrying the protest sound system. Officials said talks with the party were planned later in the day. Still, the Karachi police protest clash happened before any agreement could be reached.<\/p>\n

The incident has increased political tension in the province. Moreover, it raised concerns about public safety and protest management. Authorities said they remain open to dialogue. However, they insisted that protests must follow the law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
