The announcement was made by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister<\/a>, Salma Butt, after a meeting with representatives of the Pakistan Ghee Mills Association. The meeting was also attended by Punjab Food Authority Director General Asim Javaid.<\/p>\n

Officials said the price cut will apply across Punjab and cover all standard one-kilogram and one-liter packs of ghee and cooking oil. This step aims to reduce the financial burden on families, as demand for essential food items increases during Ramadan.<\/p>\n

Salma Butt said the government is closely monitoring global market trends. She explained that if international palm oil prices fall further, authorities may consider additional reductions. Any further decision will be taken after consultation with industry representatives.<\/p>\n

She added that the government is also focusing on improving the quality of products available to consumers. Authorities have asked industry stakeholders to provide recommendations to ensure better standards in the market.<\/p>\n

Punjab Food Authority Director General Asim Javaid said modern and affordable methods are now available to reduce trans fatty acids in ghee and cooking oil. He confirmed that testing and quality control systems are being upgraded to match international standards.<\/p>\n

He warned that strict action will be taken against companies selling substandard products. Authorities plan to increase inspections during Ramadan to protect consumers and maintain product quality.<\/p>\n

Representatives of the ghee mills assured the government that there will be no shortage during the holy month. They confirmed that adequate supplies will be available and that companies will cooperate fully with government efforts.<\/p>\n
