ISLAMABAD:<\/strong> The TTAP Parliament protest<\/strong> was called off on Wednesday as the opposition announced the decision ahead of Ramadan, while continuing to raise concerns about the health of former prime minister Imran Khan<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Raja Nasir Abbas<\/span><\/span>, said the sit-in outside Parliament would end with the start of the holy month. He added that the party would now decide its next steps after reviewing the situation.<\/p>\n

The protest was organised by Tehreek\u2011e\u2011Tahaffuz\u2011e\u2011Ain Pakistan<\/span><\/span>. Abbas said the demonstration aimed to highlight what he described as unconstitutional actions and restrictions on lawmakers. He claimed Parliament had been turned into a restricted space, with members confined and cases registered against them.<\/p>\n

Concerns over Imran Khan\u2019s eyesight and treatment<\/h3>\n

Abbas said a medical report submitted to the Supreme Court of Pakistan<\/span><\/span><\/a> showed some improvement in Imran Khan\u2019s eyesight. However, he stressed that his condition still requires close monitoring.<\/p>\n

According to information presented in court by PTI\u2019s legal team, the former prime minister has only 15 percent vision left in his right eye. The report raised alarm among opposition leaders, who demanded proper medical care.<\/p>\n

Abbas criticised jail authorities and said legal action was being considered over alleged negligence. He urged officials to allow access to family members and independent doctors to ensure transparency.<\/p>\n

He also recommended treatment at Shifa International Hospital<\/span><\/span><\/a> and said medical experts, including Dr Faisal Sultan, should be allowed to examine him.<\/p>\n

Protest linked to medical access demands<\/h3>\n

The alliance had earlier announced the protest would continue until access to Imran Khan and his treatment was guaranteed. Opposition leaders said they wanted independent confirmation of his health condition.<\/p>\n

TTAP chief and opposition leader in the National Assembly, Mahmood Khan Achakzai<\/span><\/span><\/a>, had warned that the protest would continue until their demands were met. He also held the government responsible for any harm to the PTI founder.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur<\/span><\/span> said Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi<\/span><\/span> had made serious efforts to resolve the issue of Imran Khan\u2019s imprisonment.<\/p>\n

Background of Imran Khan\u2019s imprisonment<\/h3>\n

Imran Khan, 73, has been in jail since August 2023 following multiple convictions. His party, Pakistan Tehreek\u2011e\u2011Insaf<\/span><\/span>, says the cases are politically motivated.<\/p>\n

Some convictions have been suspended, while others remain under appeal. Khan has denied any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n
