The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association (APPPOA) has written a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, expressing serious concern.

The association said oil marketing companies have introduced a quota system. Because of this, fuel supply to petrol pumps has been limited or delayed.

According to APPPOA, some orders are placed but later cancelled. Fuel tankers also remain stuck for hours without getting the required product.

The association warned that this situation may create panic among the public. It urged the government to take immediate action and consult stakeholders before imposing any restrictions.

So far, no official response has been issued by the government or oil companies.

Meanwhile, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) said the country has enough oil stocks for 28 days. Officials stated that Pakistan can meet petrol and diesel demand during this period.

However, the regional conflict has affected global oil routes. Two cargoes of crude oil remain stuck after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Strait of Hormuz

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes. Around 20 percent of global oil passes through this narrow waterway.

Reports suggest that Pakistan is now planning to import oil through the Red Sea from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Sources say companies like Saudi Aramco and ADNOC may supply oil to Pakistan through alternative routes. Some shipments have already reached the country, while others are on the way.

Pakistan imports around one million barrels of oil per month. Saudi Arabia remains a key supplier, followed by the UAE.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to ensure smooth fuel supply despite regional tensions.

Petrol Pump Owners Warn of Fuel Shortage in Pakistan as supply delays continue due to the ongoing Middle East crisis.
