Among the stranded passengers were patients, elderly people, and children. Many people had to wait on the highway because debris blocked the road at different points.<\/p>\n
Police officials in Diamer said landslides occurred in several areas of Diamer and Kohistan on Tuesday. Falling rocks and mud blocked the Karakoram Highway at multiple locations.<\/p>\n
The blockages were reported from Barseen in Upper Kohistan to the Pattan area in Lower Kohistan. Because of these landslides, traffic movement on the highway remained completely suspended.<\/p>\n
Diamer Deputy Commissioner Attaur Rehman Kakar confirmed that the Karakoram Highway Blocked situation was caused by landslides in Upper and Lower Kohistan. Authorities temporarily closed the highway to prevent accidents.<\/p>\n
Officials said debris removal work will start once the weather improves. The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) will lead the operation to clear the road and restore traffic.<\/p>\n
Over the past two days, many parts of Gilgit-Baltistan received rainfall. Higher mountainous areas also experienced fresh snowfall.<\/p>\n
The bad weather triggered landslides in remote areas and disrupted road links between communities. Residents in several areas faced travel difficulties due to the blocked routes.<\/p>\n
