ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leader Nehal Hashmi has been appointed as Governor Sindh, according to media reports.<\/p>\n
A statement issued by the Prime Minister\u2019s Office said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has sent the summary to the President of Pakistan for approval.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister met Nehal Hashmi and congratulated him on his appointment as Sindh Governor. Rana Sanaullah, Ishaq Dar, and others were also present in the meeting.<\/p>\n
Nahul Hashmi, who hails from Karachi, has been associated with the PML-N for the past several decades. He was the Advisor to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Law and Justice from 1997 to 1999. In 2012, he served as the President of the PML-N in Karachi, and then in August 2014, he was made the General Secretary of the PML-N chapter in Sindh.<\/p>\n
In 2015, Nehal Hashmi was elected as the Senate candidate from the Punjab seat of the PML-N and now it has been decided to make him the Governor of Sindh.<\/p>\n
Nehal Hashmi was expelled from the PML-N in 2017 for his controversial statement regarding the Panama case, but his membership was restored in 2021.<\/p>\n
