The E-Challan System Karachi<\/strong> has come under legal scrutiny after a public transport bus owner challenged a traffic challan in court. The case has raised questions about the accuracy of the city\u2019s automated traffic monitoring system.<\/p>\n

According to details, the dispute was filed in the Sindh High Court. The president of the Bus Owners Association, Farooq Ahmed, submitted the petition through his lawyer, Munisf Jan Advocate. The petition named the Secretary Transport, Regional Transport Authority, DIG Traffic, and other officials as respondents.<\/p>\n

The petitioner argued that the bus involved in the case cannot exceed a speed of 120 kilometers per hour. The speed limit is set by the manufacturer and controlled through a built-in speed meter.<\/p>\n

However, the cameras connected with the E-Challan System Karachi<\/strong> reportedly recorded the bus speed at 160 kilometers per hour. Based on this reading, authorities issued a traffic challan to the driver.<\/p>\n

The petitioner told the court that such a reading is technically impossible for that vehicle. He said this situation raises serious doubts about the reliability of the E-Challan System Karachi<\/strong> and the monitoring cameras installed in the city.<\/p>\n

In the petition, the court was requested to order an independent technical audit of the cameras and tracking system used to monitor vehicle speeds. The petitioner also asked the court to cancel heavy-fine challans issued through the system if faults are confirmed.<\/p>\n

The application further requested action against those responsible if the system caused financial loss to the national treasury. The petitioner also asked the court to suspend the disputed challan until the case is decided.<\/p>\n
