The CM Laptop Scheme is likely to expand as the Punjab government reviews new proposals due to increasing demand from students.<\/p>\n
Officials said two different plans are being studied to expand the CM Laptop Scheme. The final decision will be taken after reviewing financial and administrative details.<\/p>\n
According to sources, the first proposal suggests increasing the CM Laptop Scheme by 50 percent. If approved, around 165,000 students will receive laptops under the program.<\/p>\n
Under this plan, the estimated total cost of the CM Laptop Scheme could reach nearly Rs. 40 billion.<\/p>\n
A second proposal recommends doubling the size of the CM Laptop Scheme. If this option is approved, about 220,000 students would receive laptops.<\/p>\n
Sources said this expansion would increase the overall cost of the program to about Rs. 54 billion.<\/p>\n
Currently, the CM Laptop Scheme has a total cost of around Rs. 27 billion. Earlier, the government had allocated Rs. 15 billion for the first phase of the project.<\/p>\n
So far, more than 35,000 students have already received laptops through the CM Laptop Scheme.<\/p>\n
Officials also revealed that over 143,000 students have submitted applications for the program.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Higher Education Department has extended the deadline for the second phase of the CM Laptop Scheme.<\/p>\n
Students can now submit their applications online until March 20. Authorities clarified that applications will only be accepted through the online system.<\/p>\n
