Hormuz Strait security warning<\/strong> has been issued by US President Donald Trump<\/span><\/span>. He said the future of NATO<\/span><\/span> could be in danger if allied countries do not help secure the important sea route.<\/p>\n

In an interview with a British newspaper, Trump said the United States is currently in contact with Iran<\/span><\/span>. However, he believes Tehran is not ready to reach an agreement at this time.<\/p>\n

Trump explained that the US is talking with nearly seven countries about protecting the Strait of Hormuz<\/span><\/span>. He said these countries should play a role in keeping the vital waterway open and secure.<\/p>\n

According to Trump, Israel<\/span><\/span> is already cooperating with the United States in this effort.<\/p>\n

The US president warned that if NATO member states fail to assist, the future of the alliance could become very uncertain.<\/p>\n

Trump also suggested that his planned meeting with Xi Jinping<\/span><\/span> later this month might be delayed.<\/p>\n

He said the meeting will only be useful if countries that benefit from the Strait of Hormuz help ensure its safety.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Trump had asked several countries including South Korea<\/span><\/span>, Japan<\/span><\/span>, France<\/span><\/span>, China<\/span><\/span> and United Kingdom<\/span><\/span> to send naval ships to the area to protect global oil shipments.<\/p>\n
