ISLAMABAD: The government has summoned an emergency press conference to announce the petrol prices<\/a> across the country, according to sources.<\/p>\n

The petrol prices may witness an increase of Rs 100 per litre, while the diesel prices will be increased by Rs 200.<\/p>\n

According to sources, the government may introduce a subsidy of up to 20 litres of petrol per month, primarily aimed at motorcycle users to ease the burden of rising fuel costs. In addition, a subsidy on petrol and diesel for agricultural machinery is also under consideration to support the farming sector.<\/p>\n

The decisions regarding both the price hike and subsidy measures were finalized during the meeting and are expected to be formally announced in a press conference by the finance and petroleum ministers.<\/p>\n
