The department shared its seasonal outlook, warning of both benefits and risks across different regions of the country.

The forecast shows that rainfall will likely remain above normal in many parts of Pakistan. The heaviest rains are expected in northwestern areas. These include central and southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, nearby parts of Punjab, northern Balochistan, and areas of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Southern regions, including Sindh and southern Balochistan, are also expected to receive slightly above-normal rainfall. According to the PMD, the first half of the season may see more rain compared to the later weeks.

At the same time, temperatures across the country are predicted to stay above average. The highest increase is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and parts of southern Sindh and Balochistan.

The department noted that increased rainfall in water catchment areas could improve water availability. This may help agriculture and boost hydropower generation. However, officials also warned about possible challenges.

Heavy rains could cause waterlogging in low-lying areas. This may delay crop sowing in some regions. There is also a higher risk of flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas, especially in hilly regions.

Despite the wetter conditions, heatwave risks still remain. Plains of southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan may experience extreme heat during the season.

The PMD further warned that rising temperatures could increase the spread of pests and crop diseases. There is also a risk of vector-borne diseases such as dengue during this period.

Above-normal rainfall and temperatures in Pakistan are expected between April and June, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
