ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met United States Vice President<\/span><\/span>\u00a0JD Vance<\/span><\/span><\/a> as Pakistan formally commenced high-stakes negotiations between the United States and Iran, aimed at achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

The meeting took place as part of Pakistan\u2019s diplomatic efforts following a recently brokered temporary ceasefire between Washington and Tehran. The US delegation was accompanied by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff<\/span><\/span> and former senior advisor Jared Kushner<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

On the Pakistani side, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar<\/span><\/span> and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi<\/span><\/span> were also present during the talks.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed both delegations and appreciated their willingness to engage in constructive dialogue. He expressed hope that the Islamabad talks would serve as a foundation for durable and sustainable peace in the region.<\/p>\n

Reaffirming Pakistan\u2019s role as a facilitator, the prime minister said the country remains committed to supporting diplomatic efforts and providing a neutral platform for both sides to resolve their differences through dialogue.<\/p>\n
