LAHORE: The amendment bill prepared to reduce traffic fines<\/a> in Punjab has not yet been presented in the Punjab Assembly for approval, due to which the implementation of the reduction in fines is delayed, while the increase in fines was implemented immediately.<\/p>\n

According to sources, the amendments related to the Provincial Motor Vehicle (Fourth Amendment) 2025 Ordinance were approved by the Punjab Assembly Standing Committee on Home Affairs on April 1.<\/p>\n

After the approval of the cabinet, the Home Department presented the proposals for reducing traffic fines to the committee and obtained approval after a briefing.<\/p>\n

However, the Motor Vehicle Amendment Ordinance could not be presented in the House for approval, even in the third sitting of the 41st session of the Punjab Assembly.<\/p>\n

Reduction in Traffic Fines<\/h2>\n

According to the text of the amendment bill, some motorcycle challans will be reduced from Rs 2,000 to Rs 1,000, while the maximum challan for a motorcycle will be Rs 2,000.<\/p>\n

For rickshaw drivers, the fine for some violations has been reduced from Rs 3,000 to Rs 1,000, while serious violations will be fined Rs 2,000.<\/p>\n

Some car and jeep challans will be reduced from Rs 5,000 to Rs 3,000, while the fine for serious traffic violations has been maintained at Rs 5,000.<\/p>\n

There has been no reduction in the fines for overspeeding for motorcycles, rickshaws, and cars.<\/p>\n

The maximum fine for 2,000 cc and other luxury vehicles has been reduced from Rs 20,000 to Rs 10,000, while the minimum fine will be Rs 2,000.<\/p>\n

The fine for Mazda, Coaster, small passenger van, and light vehicles has been reduced from Rs 20,000 to Rs 7,000.<\/p>\n

It has been proposed to reduce the maximum fine for trucks, buses, and other heavy vehicles from Rs 20,000 to Rs 10,000.<\/p>\n

The reduction in traffic fines will be implemented after the amendment ordinance is approved by the Punjab Assembly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
