ISLAMABAD: The increasing cases of diabetes in women have raised concerns among health experts, but the real concern is not just the number of cases but their serious effects, which are more severe in women than in men.<\/p>\n
According to new medical reports, although the number of diabetic patients in men worldwide is higher than that of women, when the same disease affects women, its consequences prove to be much more dangerous.<\/p>\n
Research data shows that diabetes in women significantly increases the risk of complex problems such as heart disease, kidney problems, depression, and hormonal imbalance. According to experts, the risk of heart attack increases by about 50 percent in men with diabetes, while the same risk in women reaches 150 percent, which is a worrying difference.<\/p>\n
Experts attribute this difference to hormonal changes in the bodies of women. Fluctuations in hormones during puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause affect the process of controlling blood sugar, which can make women more susceptible to metabolic problems.<\/p>\n
In addition, some common factors also increase the risk of diabetes in women, including the accumulation of fat around the abdomen, lack of physical activity, stress, hereditary predisposition, and an unbalanced diet. In particular, excessive consumption of processed food increases this risk further.<\/p>\n
Another important aspect for women is diabetes that occurs during pregnancy, i.e., gestational diabetes. According to experts, although this disease often disappears after childbirth, the risk of type 2 diabetes in such women increases many times in later life.<\/p>\n
