ISLAMABAD: The federal government has implemented the new \u2018Civil Servants Conduct Rules 2026\u2019, replacing the 62-year-old code of conduct for government employees<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Civil Servants Conduct Rules 2026 introduces strict rules on asset details, conflict of interest, social media activities, and financial transparency.<\/p>\n

According to the new rules, officers in grade 17 and above will have to submit their asset details digitally by October 30 every year.<\/p>\n

The information on these assets will also be released publicly, but sensitive personal information will be kept confidential. The Federal Board of Revenue will also scrutinize these returns.<\/p>\n

For the first time, it has been made mandatory for government employees to disclose cryptocurrency, bank accounts, shares, securities, insurance policies, and jewellery worth Rs 5 million or more.<\/p>\n

The new rules also include a comprehensive system for conflict of interest, under which officers will have to disclose their personal or family interests to avoid influencing government decisions.<\/p>\n

Social media and online activities have also been severely restricted. Government employees will not be able to run websites, podcasts, blogs, or YouTube channels without prior permission, while personal advertising of government facilities or work will also be prohibited.<\/p>\n

The government has also tightened rules on gifts and hospitality. Under the new rules, government employees and their families will not be able to accept gifts from unrelated individuals, companies, or foreign representatives, except in cases permitted under the Tosha Khana laws.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, officers have also been barred from spending more than their income, while explanations for extraordinary expenses on weddings and other events can be sought.<\/p>\n

According to the new rules, government employees will have to seek prior permission if they work in the private sector during extraordinary leave, and upon their return, they will not be allowed to participate in any official business related to their previous institution for 3 years.<\/p>\n

The government has made it clear that violation of these rules will be considered misconduct, and departmental action will be taken against violators.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
