{"id":113633,"date":"2026-05-24T21:35:06","date_gmt":"2026-05-24T16:35:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=113633"},"modified":"2026-05-24T21:35:06","modified_gmt":"2026-05-24T16:35:06","slug":"pakistan-china-sign-agreements-worth-over-7-billion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pakistan-china-sign-agreements-worth-over-7-billion\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan, China sign agreements worth over $7 billion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"88\" data-end=\"107\">BEIJING: More than $7 billion worth of agreements and memorandums of understanding (<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/dubais-famous-hotel-to-be-closed\/\">MoUs<\/a>) were signed between Pakistani and Chinese companies during Prime Minister <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Shehbaz Sharif<\/span><\/span>\u2019s official visit to <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">China<\/span><\/span>, aimed at strengthening bilateral investment and economic cooperation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"432\" data-end=\"732\">Addressing the Pakistan\u2013China Business-to-Business Investment Conference in <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Hangzhou<\/span><\/span>, the prime minister invited Chinese investors to expand investment in Pakistan across sectors, including agriculture, information technology, special economic zones, mining, and minerals.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"734\" data-end=\"958\">Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan\u2019s priority is investment, technology transfer, expertise, and joint development rather than dependence on loans and aid. He emphasized the need to transform signed MoUs into operational projects.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"960\" data-end=\"1228\">The prime minister also encouraged Chinese companies to relocate industries to Pakistan and assured investors of world-class facilities, one-window operations, and long-term leased land in the Special Economic Zone established in <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Karachi<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1230\" data-end=\"1466\">According to the prime minister, more than 200 MoUs worth over $20 billion have been signed in five Pakistan\u2013China business-to-business conferences so far, while around 30 percent have already been converted into operational agreements.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1468\" data-end=\"1654\">During the conference, a major agreement worth $1.12 billion was signed between <span class=\"\" data-state=\"closed\"><a class=\"decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Haolu Engineering and Technology Company Limited<\/a><\/span> and <span class=\"\" data-state=\"closed\"><a class=\"decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited<\/a><\/span> for fertilizer production.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1656\" data-end=\"1914\">Another MoU worth $100 million was signed between <span class=\"\" data-state=\"closed\"><a class=\"decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IBI Beijing United Information Technology Company<\/a><\/span> and <span class=\"\" data-state=\"closed\"><a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ric.com.pk?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RIC<\/a><\/span> covering agrochemicals, agricultural machinery, and the establishment of a regional office in <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Multan<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1916\" data-end=\"2282\">Highlighting agricultural opportunities, the prime minister said China imports nearly $100 billion worth of agricultural products annually, while Pakistan\u2019s current share remains limited. He stated that through mechanized farming, improved seeds, and modern agriculture, Pakistan could potentially increase exports to China to $10 billion within five to seven years.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2284\" data-end=\"2512\">Shehbaz Sharif further said Pakistan\u2019s young population presents significant opportunities in information technology and artificial intelligence and that Chinese investment in special economic zones would create mutual benefits.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2514\" data-end=\"2716\">Referring to bilateral ties, the prime minister described President <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Xi Jinping<\/span><\/span> as a visionary leader and reiterated that Pakistan seeks deeper economic cooperation with China.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2718\" data-end=\"3021\">Meanwhile, Federal Minister for IT <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Shaza Fatima Khawaja<\/span><\/span> said that the second phase of the China\u2013Pakistan<span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">\u00a0Economic Corridor<\/span><\/span> is evolving beyond infrastructure into a digital Silk Road involving fiber optics, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, e-commerce, and IT collaboration.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3023\" data-end=\"3220\">The conference was attended by Deputy Prime Minister <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Ishaq Dar<\/span><\/span>, federal ministers, investors, business leaders, and representatives of Pakistani and Chinese companies.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"1fhhc2b\" data-start=\"3222\" data-end=\"3239\"><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BEIJING: More than $7 billion worth of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed between Pakistani and Chinese companies during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif\u2019s official visit to China, aimed at strengthening bilateral investment and economic cooperation.
