MIRPUR: Bangladesh secured the ODI series<\/a> with a convincing five-wicket victory over Australia under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method in the second one-day international at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

In a rain-affected match reduced to 42 overs per side, Bangladesh chased down a revised target of 192 runs in 35 overs, finishing with six overs to spare.<\/p>\n

Australia Collapses Early<\/h3>\n

Australia’s decision to bat first proved costly as Bangladesh’s pace attack ripped through the top order.<\/p>\n

Taskin Ahmed struck on the fourth ball of the match to dismiss Matthew Short, while Mustafizur Rahman removed Cooper Connolly and Matt Renshaw for ducks, leaving Australia reeling early.<\/p>\n

Alex Carey managed 13 runs before becoming Mustafizur’s third victim as Australia slumped to 25-4.<\/p>\n

Captain Josh Inglis scored 34 runs, and Cameron Green contributed during a brief recovery, but left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam dismissed both batters, reducing the visitors to 81-6.<\/p>\n

Australia’s innings was revived by a crucial 103-run partnership between Marnus Labuschagne and Xavier Bartlett.<\/p>\n

Labuschagne remained unbeaten on 55 off 85 balls, while Bartlett played an aggressive knock of 52 from 48 deliveries, including five fours and four sixes.<\/p>\n

Taskin returned to break the stand and finished with three wickets, while Mustafizur also claimed three scalps as Australia posted 187-8 in their allotted 42 overs.<\/p>\n

Bangladesh Hold Nerve in Chase<\/h3>\n

Chasing a revised DLS target of 192 runs in 41 overs, Bangladesh suffered an early setback when opener Tanzid Hasan was dismissed without scoring.<\/p>\n

However, Soumya Sarkar and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto steadied the innings with an 86-run partnership. Both batters scored 42 runs before being dismissed.<\/p>\n

Australia fought back through Riley Meredith, Cameron Green and Adam Zampa, reducing Bangladesh to 144-5 and briefly raising hopes of a comeback.<\/p>\n

Towhid, Miraz Seal Victory<\/h3>\n

Towhid Hridoy and Mehidy Hasan Miraz ensured there would be no late collapse, guiding Bangladesh home with an unbeaten 51-run partnership for the sixth wicket.<\/p>\n

Hridoy remained unbeaten on 40 off 55 balls, while Miraz contributed a quick 22 not out from 22 deliveries.<\/p>\n
