In an informal but significant meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir interacted with members of a visiting US delegation<\/a> on the periphery of the Lake Lucerne Summit at Lake Lucerne on Sunday.<\/p>\n

US Vice President JD Vance and special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had earlier met the PM and the Army Chief of Staff before the much-anticipated Iran-U.S. peace summit in Switzerland.<\/p>\n

The cordial meeting had both sides wishing each other well, and the two senior figures engaged in pleasantries.
\nIt was representative of the continued diplomatic relations that Pakistan continues to pursue on both national and international fronts, a dialogue that had the presence of high-ranking officials from both nations.<\/p>\n

Both leaders discussed various topics of mutual interest. JD Vance and the Iranian team landed in Switzerland late Saturday night to discuss what some describe as a preliminary agreement to mediate an end to the raging Middle Eastern conflict that is, at present, causing quite a lot of international uproar.<\/p>\n

This, according to what has been termed an informed source, \u2018is in continuation of an ongoing negotiation for the implementation of an MoU between Pakistan and Iran in relation to their cooperation against terrorist groups.\u2019 In a post on the social media platform X, the Swiss foreign ministry said: \u201cWe welcome the arrival of the Iranian delegation in Switzerland.<\/p>\n

The talks on Wednesday are the implementation process of the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n

IRNA, Iran\u2019s state news agency, also reported the arrival of an Iranian delegation in Switzerland for discussions on these peace initiatives.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the United States Vice President JD Vance also landed in Switzerland on Sunday to negotiate a plan to effectively resolve the prolonged war in the Middle East. JD Vance arrived at Emmen Air Base with a landing time of 5:59 a.m. Local time on Sunday (03:59 GMT), according to a spokesperson, while an early Tuesday departure was scheduled.<\/p>\n

In his pre-trip remarks from Joint Base Andrews as he departed for Switzerland on Saturday for the dialogue with Iran about an agreement to end the M. East war, US Vice President JD Vance noted that the delegates will discuss Iran\u2019s nuclear program and the ceasefire that has long been in place with Lebanon.<\/p>\n

JD Vance commented, \u2018Hopefully, on the nuclear topic, we\u2019re all going to have to push, on the issue of the Lebanese cease-fire, there\u2019s got to be headway.\u2019<\/p>\n
