LAHORE: There is good news for poor farmers that now they will be able to get 4 acres of agricultural land on lease for just Rs 100 per year.<\/p>\n
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz<\/a> held a computerized lottery in Lahore for the allotment of agricultural land to 30,000 landless and deserving families under the Apna Khet Apna Rozgar scheme.<\/p>\n On this occasion, she gave the good news to the poor farmers that they are being given four acres of agricultural land on lease for 20 years for just Rs 100 per year.<\/p>\n Through the lottery, 121,000 acres of land were distributed to 30,000 landless families across Punjab, while the provincial government will also provide them with Rs 200,000 as an aid for cultivation.<\/p>\n On this occasion, the Punjab Chief Minister said that the agriculture sector plays an important role in Pakistan\u2019s economy and is a key driver of economic development. The provincial government is taking practical steps for the welfare of farmers and creating employment opportunities for the youth.<\/p>\n Maryam Nawaz said that the aim of this scheme is to provide economic independence to landless and highly deserving families, increase agricultural production and restore the self-respect of farmers. Land has been given to deserving families on merit, no recommendation or political pressure has been accepted in this regard.<\/p>\n She said that 30,000 beneficiaries will benefit from the \u201cApna Khet Apna Rozgar\u201d scheme. Allotment letters will be given in a week and possession of the land will be given by July 31.<\/p>\n The Punjab Chief Minister also said that the provincial government is taking practical steps for the welfare of farmers and creating employment opportunities for the youth.
