{"id":117579,"date":"2026-07-08T12:44:13","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T07:44:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=117579"},"modified":"2026-07-08T12:47:47","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T07:47:47","slug":"mepco-turns-profitable-after-two-years-posts-rs1-05-billion-profit-power-division","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/mepco-turns-profitable-after-two-years-posts-rs1-05-billion-profit-power-division\/","title":{"rendered":"MEPCO turns profitable after two years, posts Rs1.05 Billion Profit: Power Division"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"132\" data-end=\"386\">ISLAMABAD: Pakistan&#8217;s Ministry of Energy (Power Division) has announced that the Multan Electric Power Company (<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/govt-unveils-major-privatization-plan-islamabad-karachi-and-lahore-airports-included\/\">MEPCO<\/a>) has successfully turned around its financial performance, moving from a loss-making utility to a profitable company.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"388\" data-end=\"621\">According to the Power Division spokesperson, MEPCO has recovered from a Rs36 billion loss over the past two years and has now recorded a profit of Rs1.05 billion, marking a financial turnaround of more than Rs37 billion.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"623\" data-end=\"851\">The spokesperson credited the achievement to the leadership of Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, under whose guidance the company implemented extensive reforms and strengthened financial management.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"853\" data-end=\"985\">MEPCO also significantly reduced its line losses from 15.2% to 11.9%, while its recovery rate improved from 98.6% to 100.8%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"987\" data-end=\"1195\">The Power Division said the company&#8217;s improved financial performance was driven by effective billing, strict measures against electricity theft, operational reforms, and the adoption of modern technology.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1197\" data-end=\"1442\">According to the spokesperson, MEPCO&#8217;s success reflects the impact of comprehensive reforms, effective monitoring, automation, and an independent Board of Directors, which played a key role in improving governance and operational efficiency.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1444\" data-end=\"1747\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The Power Division described MEPCO&#8217;s turnaround as a model reform initiative, adding that the same governance framework\u2014based on independent decision-making, transparency, and technology-driven oversight\u2014is also being implemented across other electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) in Pakistan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Pakistan&#8217;s Ministry of Energy (Power Division) has announced that the Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) has successfully turned around its financial performance, moving from a loss-making utility to a profitable company.
