The government subsequently increased the levy by Rs6.22 per litre from July 4, followed by another increase of Rs9.64 per litre from July 11.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of these two upward revisions, the petroleum levy on petrol has risen to Rs80 per litre.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts say that if the government had not imposed these levy increases, the price of petrol would have been Rs15.86 per litre lower than the current rate.<\/p>\n<p>At present, the official price of petrol stands at Rs310.71 per litre.
