{"id":118205,"date":"2026-07-14T17:45:52","date_gmt":"2026-07-14T12:45:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=118205"},"modified":"2026-07-14T17:45:52","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T12:45:52","slug":"imf-projects-higher-inflation-than-governments-target","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/imf-projects-higher-inflation-than-governments-target\/","title":{"rendered":"IMF projects higher inflation than government&#8217;s target"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD (Rizwan Abbasi): The International Monetary Fund (<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pm-shehbaz-sharif-secures-major-relief-as-imf-agrees-to-reconsider-key-tax-proposals\/\">IMF<\/a>) has projected that Pakistan\u2019s average inflation rate during fiscal year 2026-27 is likely to exceed the target set by the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>According to the IMF, average inflation is expected to stand at 8.4 percent in the current fiscal year, compared to the federal government\u2019s budget target of 8.2 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The IMF\u2019s projection is therefore slightly higher than the official target. In its latest report, the IMF forecasts that inflation will gradually decline after the current fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>It projects average inflation to fall to 6.6 percent in fiscal year 2027-28 and 6.5 percent in fiscal year 2028-29. The report further expects inflation to remain at around 6.5 percent during fiscal years 2029-30 and 2030-31.<\/p>\n<p>The IMF also projects that Pakistan\u2019s average inflation will remain in single digits for the next five fiscal years.
