{"id":16742,"date":"2023-06-03T19:12:07","date_gmt":"2023-06-03T14:12:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=16742"},"modified":"2023-06-03T19:12:07","modified_gmt":"2023-06-03T14:12:07","slug":"lahore-atc-discharges-ptis-yasmin-rashid-from-jinnah-house-attack-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/lahore-atc-discharges-ptis-yasmin-rashid-from-jinnah-house-attack-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Lahore ATC discharges PTI\u2019s Yasmin Rashid from Jinnah House attack case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lahore ATC discharges PTI\u2019s Yasmin Rashid from Jinnah House attack case. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insaf.pk\/\">Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf<\/a> (PTI) leader Yasmin Rashid, who was arrested following May 9 violent protests, has been discharged from the Jinnah House attack case.<\/p>\n<p>An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore announced the verdict on Saturday and rejected the police request to grant her physical remand.<\/p>\n<p>According to a copy of the court order, the investigating officer had requested 14-day physical remand of Dr Rashid for photogrammetry, voice match tests and recovery of mobile phones.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The iron lady Dr Yasmin Rashid:<br \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ldpXDI5CbD\">pic.twitter.com\/ldpXDI5CbD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; M Khan (@Mishy_K1) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mishy_K1\/status\/1664967718859337728?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 3, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>It added that \u201cperusal of record\u201d revealed that neither Dr Rashid is nominated in the first information report (FIR) nor involved through supplementary statement.<\/p>\n<p>She was summoned in this case on the disclosure of co-accused which has no \u201cevidentiary value in the eye of law\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Read more:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pti-doesnt-need-electables-anymore-imran-khan.html\">PTI doesn&#8217;t need &#8216;electables&#8217; anymore: Imran Khan<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince no incriminating material is available on record to connect her with the commission of offence, therefore, request of investigating officer is turned down and she is accordingly discharged from instant case,\u201d the order added.<\/p>\n<p>The order further said that the PTI leader be released immediately \u201cif not required in any other case\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She was arrested by the Lahore police on May 17, under Section 3 of Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) following countrywide violent protests.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, the cases against Dr Rashid were registered at Sarwar Road, Gulberg, and Shadman police stations in Lahore for her alleged involvement in the riots. The cases also included sections related to terrorism and other serious charges.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the anti-terrorism court had sent her to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.<\/p>\n<p>During the nearly three-day-long violent protests across the country, PTI supporters and workers allegedly attacked and ransacked public and military installations including Jinnah House and General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.<\/p>\n<p>Several party leaders and lawmakers \u2014 including Shireen Mazari, Fawad Chaudhry, Mahmood Moulvi, Aftab Siddiqui, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, Ali Zaidi among others \u2014 have publicly denounced the attacks on the state installations and announced their departure from the former ruling party since the May 9 vandalism.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lahore ATC discharges PTI\u2019s Yasmin Rashid from Jinnah House attack case.
