Princess Kate shows off her sporty side in a bright blue athletic shirt. Princess Kate put her best foot forward during a solo engagement at the Maidenhead Rugby Club today.<\/p>\n

As the royal patron of the Rugby Football Union, the Princess of Wales joined local and professional players on the pitch. She completed a number of drills while wearing a bright blue athletic shirt, navy blue tapered trousers, and white sneakers.<\/p>\n

The visit also marked a continuation of Kate\u2019s Shaping Us campaign, with the royal afterward leading a conversation about early childhood experiences and fatherhood with the rugby players. Participating in the discussion were former England pro rugby player Ugo Monye; Si Trower, former rugby player and founder of mental health charity Brave Mind; and other representatives from Maidenhead RFC.<\/p>\n

During the visit, Kate told Nigel Gillingham OBE, president of the RFU, that she regularly enjoys games of rugby with her three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was telling me that she regularly plays rugby with her children in the back garden\u2014and lots of other sport,\u201d Gillingham said, Town & Country reported. \u201cApparently Charlotte is very much in her mould, very competitive as well apparently.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of the royal\u2019s enthusiastic participation in today\u2019s drills, Gillingham added, \u201cYou could tell by the smile on her face that she was enjoying it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kate launched her landmark Shaping Us campaign through the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood earlier this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a society, we currently spend much more of our time and energy on later life,\u201d she announced in a letter this past January. \u201cI am absolutely determined that this long-term campaign is going to change that.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added that the campaign will include \u201ca remarkable group of experts spanning science, research, policymaking and front-line practice as well as an exciting group of well-known faces from music, sport and television to show all of us why it is in all of our interests to care about this.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
