Gerard & Shakira split: Shocking details about exes’ relationship revealed. Shakira and Gerard Pique were reportedly in an \u201copen relationship” before they announced their separation last year.<\/p>\n

Spanish TV journalist Jos\u00e9 Antonio Avil\u00e9s claimed that the former Barcelona star and the Waka Waka hitmaker were in a fluid relationship for three years before they parted ways.<\/p>\n

The paparazzo also alleged that Shakira\u2019s breakup announcement took Gerard by \u201csurprise\u201d as he learned it from press while media was busy accusing him of cheating on his long-term partner.<\/p>\n

Right after their split, Gerard made his relationship with PR student Clara Chia Marti official with a PDA filled outing at a Barcelona concert, further fuelling cheating rumours.<\/p>\n

However, there was “no infidelity on his part,\u201d Jos\u00e9 said of the athlete, revealing that Gerard and Shakira had been in an “open relationship” for three years before their split.<\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 said he received the reports from inner circle of the former footballer while calling the couple\u2019s non-exclusive pact “the key moment in their relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

“There is an agreement where ‘you do what you want and I do what I want.\u2019 But in the face of the media we are still a couple’,” the journalist said, as per El Nacional de Catalunya.<\/p>\n

Speaking of Shakira\u2019s breakup announcement to the press, Jos\u00e9 said, “The footballer’s entourage was surprised by Shakira’s statement,\u201d adding, “He has been annoyed to find out from the press.\u201d<\/p>\n

Confirming the claims, another journalist Pilar Vidal said, “Pique does not want speculation that the reason for the breakup was infidelity.\u201d<\/p>\n

“He was surprised by the statement, because the one who takes the initiative is her,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

This comes after Shakira opened up about heartbreak claiming she learned about Gerard\u2019s \u201cbetrayal\u201d while her father William Mebarak was admitted in hospital.<\/p>\n
