{"id":18240,"date":"2023-08-01T16:27:39","date_gmt":"2023-08-01T11:27:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=18240"},"modified":"2023-08-01T16:27:39","modified_gmt":"2023-08-01T11:27:39","slug":"civilians-military-trial-sc-verdict-on-plea-for-formation-of-full-court-tomorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/civilians-military-trial-sc-verdict-on-plea-for-formation-of-full-court-tomorrow\/","title":{"rendered":"Civilians&#8217; military trial: SC verdict on plea for formation of full court tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: A six-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday reserved its verdict on a fresh petition seeking the formation of a full court to hear pleas challenging the military trials of civilians.<\/p>\n<p>The bench comprised Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Ayesha A. Malik.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the apex court had rejected the federal government\u2019s plea to constitute a full court for the case.<\/p>\n<p>However, a fresh application pertaining to the matter was moved yesterday by senior counsel Faisal Siddiqi on behalf of civil society members. \u201cThe full court should include all judges willing and available for the adjudication on the fundamental and complex constitutional and legal questions,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>The petition further stated that the petitioners would have no objection if all the judges of the SC were part of the proposed full court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is categorically stated that unlike the government\u2019s malafide actions, the petitioners have no objection, whatsoever, on any judge willing and available to hear this case,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Read more:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/supreme-court-returns-aun-chaudhrys-plea-seeking-ban-on-pti.html\">Supreme Court returns Aun Chaudhry&#8217;s plea seeking ban on PTI<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>During today\u2019s hearing, the CJP discussed the plea with the other petitioners in the case, following which the apex court reserved its verdict on Siddiqi\u2019s application. Justice Bandial said the bench would announce its decision after holding a discussion.
