{"id":18366,"date":"2023-08-04T23:42:01","date_gmt":"2023-08-04T18:42:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=18366"},"modified":"2023-08-04T23:42:01","modified_gmt":"2023-08-04T18:42:01","slug":"after-ihc-order-trial-court-summons-chairman-pti-in-toshakhana-case-tomorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/after-ihc-order-trial-court-summons-chairman-pti-in-toshakhana-case-tomorrow\/","title":{"rendered":"After IHC order, trial court summons Chairman PTI in Toshakhana case tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following a short order issued by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), a district and sessions court in the federal capital on Friday summoned former prime minister Imran Khan in his personal capacity tomorrow (Saturday) in the Toshakhana case.<\/p>\n<p>The trial court in Islamabad resumed hearing the Toshakhana reference filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman as the IHC set aside the sessions court\u2019s previous ruling in the case today.<\/p>\n<p>In his short order, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq instructed the local court to decide the matter again after hearing the case.<\/p>\n<p>At the outset of today\u2019s hearing, the local court\u2019s judge Humayun Dilawar asked Barrister Gohar Ali \u2014 Imran Khan\u2019s counsel \u2014 about updates on the case in the high court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter approving the plea relating to the maintainability matter, the high court again sent the case to the sessions court,\u201d replied the lawyer.<\/p>\n<p>He pleaded with the court to grant an exemption to his client from personnel appearance.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Read more:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/ecp-informs-sc-about-non-provision-of-funds-for-punjab-polls.html\">ECP informs SC about non-provision of funds for Punjab polls<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Election Commission of Pakistan&#8217;s (ECP) lawyer Amjad Parvez said that the trial court had issued notices to the relevant parties in the reference filed by the election watchdog for the trail of the deposed prime minister \u2014 who was removed from the office via a no-confidence motion in April last year \u2014 next week, adding that the IHC did not issue stay order over the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe PTI chairman\u2019s requests for transfer of case has also been rejected,\u201d Parvez added. In addition to this, directions have been given to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) regarding the fake Facebook posts, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd what about those who have floated fake Facebook posts?\u201d the judge asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou fall in love with those who wave Facebook posts,\u201d the ECP counsel quipped, leaving the court filled with laughter.<\/p>\n<p>The ECP\u2019s counsel has completed its arguments, the judge observed and directed Khan\u2019s lawyer to give his arguments at 8:30am tomorrow (Friday).<\/p>\n<p>The court will reserve its verdict in the case if the defendant&#8217;s counsel does not join the hearing tomorrow, warned the judge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following a short order issued by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), a district and sessions court in the federal capital on Friday summoned former prime minister Imran Khan in his personal capacity tomorrow (Saturday) in the Toshakhana case.
