{"id":18379,"date":"2023-08-05T16:51:29","date_gmt":"2023-08-05T11:51:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=18379"},"modified":"2023-08-05T16:51:29","modified_gmt":"2023-08-05T11:51:29","slug":"pti-challenges-chairmans-arrest-in-toshakhana-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pti-challenges-chairmans-arrest-in-toshakhana-case\/","title":{"rendered":"PTI challenges chairman\u2019s arrest in Toshakhana case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday moved Lahore High Court (LHC) against the party chairman\u2019s \u201cillegal\u201d arrest in the Toshakhana case.<\/p>\n<p>PTI lawyer Umair Niazi filed a petition in LHC on behalf of party chief Imran Khan.<\/p>\n<p>The petition stated that the PTI chief was arrested \u201cillegally\u201d by police as they \u201cdid not have court order\u201d at the time of the arrest.<\/p>\n<p>It further urged the court to fix the hearing of the petition today. The petitioner has made IGP Punjab, CCPO Lahore and others as respondents in the case.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Imran Khan arrest<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief was arrested from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore soon after he was found guilty of \u201ccorrupt practices\u201d in the Toshakhana case and sentenced to three years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi confirmed the arrest of the PTI chairman in the Toshakhana case.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Read more:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/imran-khan-mastermind-behind-may-9-events-aimed-at-toppling-military-leadership-pm.html\">Imran Khan mastermind behind May 9 events aimed at toppling military leadership: PM<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PTI\u2019s Punjab Chapter confirmed the reports with a tweet: \u201cImran Khan is being moved to Kot Lakhpat Jail.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The verdict<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>District and Sessions Court today awarded three years jail term to the PTI chairman in Toshakhana criminal case.<\/p>\n<p>The court in its verdict said that the accused has been found guilty of corrupt practices and handed the PTI chairman three years jail sentence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImran Khan deliberately submitted fake details [of Toshakhana gifts] to the ECP and is found guilty of corrupt practices,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>The court also imposed Rs 100,000 fine on the convicted chief of the PTI.
