{"id":19499,"date":"2023-10-09T17:05:52","date_gmt":"2023-10-09T12:05:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=19499"},"modified":"2023-10-09T17:05:52","modified_gmt":"2023-10-09T12:05:52","slug":"ihc-issues-notices-to-former-generals-bajwa-faiz-over-misleading-interviews","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/ihc-issues-notices-to-former-generals-bajwa-faiz-over-misleading-interviews\/","title":{"rendered":"IHC issues notices to former generals Bajwa &#038; Faiz over \u2018misleading interviews\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued notices to former army chief General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa and ex-spy chief Lt Gen (retired) Faiz Hameed on a petition seeking action against them for allegedly violating laws pertaining to retired servicemen by distorting facts of various events during media interviews.<\/p>\n<p>Besides the former military officials, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq also issued notices to journalists Javed Chaudhary, Shahid Maitla and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) on citizen Atif Ali&#8217;s petitions.<\/p>\n<p>The petition alleged that the journalists wrote two articles based on the interviews of the retired generals for viewership which had a \u201cnegative impact\u201d on the society.<\/p>\n<p>The petitioner further alleged that under the guise of freedom of speech, a \u201ccriminal act\u201d was committed and a request was filed for the registration of a case but no action had been taken yet.<\/p>\n<p>The plea sought the IHC&#8217;s direction to the authorities to register a case.<\/p>\n<p>The petitioner claimed that former generals Bajwa and Faiz tainted the national events by portraying them in a false and fabricated manner.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Read more:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/forces-gun-down-terrorist-involved-in-targeting-civilians-leas-in-north-waziristan-ispr.html\">Forces gun down terrorist involved in targeting civilians, LEAs in North Waziristan: ISPR<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In order to gain traction, the news articles presented a negative image of the state institutions under the garb of journalism.<\/p>\n<p>It further said that the ongoing campaign in the context of these incidents is an attempt to create distrust between the people and the state institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, the former army chief reportedly discussed various matters including PTI chief Imran Khan\u2019s ouster from power, civil-military ties and other issues in interviews with the journalists.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued notices to former army chief General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa and ex-spy chief Lt Gen (retired) Faiz Hameed on a petition seeking action against them for allegedly violating laws pertaining to retired servicemen by distorting facts of various events during media interviews.
