The OIC restates its demand that India rescind all unlawful and unilateral actions that it has undertaken since August 2019<\/p>\n
The Indian Supreme Court’s decision to uphold India’s revocation of Article 370, which granted special status to the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), alarmed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The highest court in India decided earlier this week, on December 11, that the occupied territory was an essential component of the nation and that Article 370 was only a provision that would be removed by India on August 5, 2019.<\/p>\n
However, the OIC General Secretariat once again urged that all unlawful and unilateral actions taken by India since then be stopped in order to alter the territory’s internationally recognized disputed status.<\/p>\n
The OIC posted on X, a platform that was formerly Twitter: “The OIC General Secretariat is concerned about the ruling by the Indian Supreme Court that upholds the unilateral actions taken by the Indian government on August 5, 2019, which resulted in the Territory of Jammu and Kashmir losing its special status.”<\/p>\n
Regarding the IIOJK issue, the OIC disseminated the conclusions and decisions of the Islamic Summit and the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.<\/p>\n
The General Secretariat once again called on the international community to step up efforts to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir issue through the pertinent United Nations Security Council resolutions, and it reaffirmed its solidarity with the people of IIOJK in their pursuit of the right to self-determination.<\/p>\n
The Modi administration removed Article 370 in 2019, guaranteeing the IIOJK a great deal of autonomy since 1947.<\/p>\n
