{"id":21506,"date":"2023-12-23T15:32:07","date_gmt":"2023-12-23T10:32:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=21506"},"modified":"2023-12-23T15:32:07","modified_gmt":"2023-12-23T10:32:07","slug":"gohar-says-pti-to-challenge-ecp-decision-in-sc-and-phc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/latest-news\/gohar-says-pti-to-challenge-ecp-decision-in-sc-and-phc\/","title":{"rendered":"Gohar says PTI to challenge ECP decision in SC and PHC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said on Saturday that the party was &#8220;deeply upset&#8221; over the Election Commission of Pakistan\u2019s (ECP) decision to nullify the PTI&#8217;s intra-party polls and taking away the party\u2019s official symbol.<\/p>\n<p>He said the PTI will\u00a0approach the Supreme Court (SC) as well as the Peshawar High Court (PHC) to challenge the electoral watchdog&#8217;s decision.<\/p>\n<p>Gohoar said the, \u201cElection Commission\u2019s decision is very weak,&#8221; adding that\u00a0the matter was urgent for which the PTI &#8220;will go to courts\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the upcoming general elections in February, 2024, he said that the party has instructed its candidates to submit their nomination papers to contest in the general elections.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that yesterday the electoral watchdog\u00a0nullified\u00a0the intra-party elections of the former ruling party, taking back the party&#8217;s famous &#8220;cricket bat&#8221; symbol.<\/p>\n<p>A five-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja declared the PTI intra-party elections \u2018null and void\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>On November 22,\u00a0the ECP\u00a0ordered the PTI\u00a0to hold intra-party elections within the next 20 days to retain \u201cbat\u201d as its election symbol, warning that any deviation would render it ineligible to obtain any other election symbol for the upcoming general elections.<\/p>\n<p>Read More:<em><strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pml-n-ppp-take-exception-to-imran-khans-bail-in-cipher-case.html\">PML-N, PPP take exception to Imran Khan&amp;#8217;s bail in cipher case<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>On December 2, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan was\u00a0elected unopposed\u00a0in the intra-party elections instructed by the ECP.
