Atleast, 22 people, including two soldiers, have been swept away by a flash flood caused by heavy rain in\u00a0Neelum Valley district of\u00a0Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday\u00a0night.<\/p>\n
State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) Director Operations\u00a0Dr. Syed Al-Rehman Qureshi, stated that there are reports of major damage in the Leswa village. The flood has destroyed around 150 houses, 40 shops, 3 mosques, a basic health unit (BHU), vehicles\u00a0and number of motorbikes.<\/p>\n
He further said that the death toll is likely to rise over the coming hours.<\/p>\n
According to reports by the SDMA, the rescue operation started in the morning with the assistance of the army while the families affected by the heavy flood have been moved to a safer place.<\/p>\n
The officials stated that no body has been recovered as yet. Medical assistance and relief goods comprising of tents, edible items, and other household items have been sent to the area in Muzaffarabad.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
