{"id":2594,"date":"2021-09-23T11:25:50","date_gmt":"2021-09-23T11:25:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=2594"},"modified":"2021-09-23T11:25:50","modified_gmt":"2021-09-23T11:25:50","slug":"women-must-claim-their-right-to-inheritance-in-lifetime-rules-sc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/women-must-claim-their-right-to-inheritance-in-lifetime-rules-sc\/","title":{"rendered":"Women must claim their right to inheritance in lifetime, rules SC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan in a landmark ruling said that women must claim their right to inheritance in their lifetime, on Thursday.<br \/>\n\u201cIf they fail to claim inheritance in their lifetime, their children cannot lay a claim,\u201d a bench of the apex court said in its verdict over the women\u2019s right to inherit.<br \/>\nA bench of the Supreme Court in its decision said that the law protects their right to inheritance. \u201cWhat remains to be decided is what happens if they rescind their right or do not lay a claim over the family inheritance.<br \/>\nThe Supreme Court was hearing a case in which children of two women had claimed their right in property of their maternal grandfather.<br \/>\nIsa Khan transferred his properties to his son Abdul Rehman in 1935. He did not give a share in his property to his two daughters.<br \/>\nThe sisters never claimed their right to inheritance in their lifetime. Their children, however, claimed their right to inheritance of their maternal grandfather in year 2004.<br \/>\nA civil court decided the matter in their favour but the Peshawar High Court had quashed the lower court\u2019s decision.
