{"id":2651,"date":"2021-09-24T12:18:18","date_gmt":"2021-09-24T12:18:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=2651"},"modified":"2021-09-24T12:18:18","modified_gmt":"2021-09-24T12:18:18","slug":"digital-currency-bitcoin-slips-nearly-5-percent-after-china-central-bank-vows-to-crack-down-on-crypto-trading","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/digital-currency-bitcoin-slips-nearly-5-percent-after-china-central-bank-vows-to-crack-down-on-crypto-trading\/","title":{"rendered":"Digital Currency Bitcoin slips nearly 5 percent after China Central Bank vows to crack down on crypto trading"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LONDON: Digital Currency Bitcoin dropped nearly 5 per cent on Friday after the People\u2019s Bank of China said it would crack down on cryptocurrency trading, bannin overseas exchanges from providing services to mainland investors.<br \/>\nThe largest cryptocurrency was last down 4.6% at $42,874, with smaller coins that typically trade in tandem with bitcoin also tumbling.<br \/>\nEther fell over 8% while XRP slipped 7%.<br \/>\nChina&#8217;s central bank also said it will bar financial institutions, payment companies and internet firms from facilitating cryptocurrency trading, and will strengthen monitoring of risks from such activities.<br \/>\n&#8220;Crypto markets are in an extremely frail state overall, and these sorts of downswings speak to that; there&#8217;s a degree of panic in the air,&#8221; said Joseph Edwards, head of research at cryptocurrency broker Enigma Securities.<br \/>\n&#8220;Crypto continues to exist in a grey area of legality across the board in China.&#8221;<br \/>\nShares in cryptocurrency and blockchain-related firms also came under pressure with US listed miners Riot Blockchain , Marathon Digital and Bit Digital slipping between 4.1% and 5.1% in premarket trading.
