KARACHI:<\/span>\u00a0Two terrorists\u00a0<\/span>were killed<\/span>\u00a0and three others injured during a suicide attack on a vehicle carrying Japanese nationals in the Mashera Colony of\u00a0<\/span>Karachi’s<\/span>\u00a0Landhi area on Friday morning.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the police, five Japanese nationals, who were on the way to the Export Processing Zone from their Clifton\u00a0residence, remained unhurt as retaliatory firing from security guards foiled the terrorist attack.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Tariq Mastoi, a suicide attack was carried out on the car targeting foreigners. At the time of the explosion, firing\u00a0<\/span>was also done<\/span>\u00a0on the vehicle.<\/span><\/p>\n

“A<\/span>ll five foreigners, including four in the front vehicle and one in the following police vehicle, remained safe in the attack,<\/span>”\u00a0<\/span>he said, adding that the vehicle carrying the Japanese nationals was bullet-proof.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following the firing, one of the terrorists exploded his explosives-laden jacket\u00a0<\/span>which<\/span>\u00a0damaged the\u00a0<\/span>foreigners’<\/span>\u00a0vehicle and a motorcycle\u00a0<\/span>injuring<\/span> three people, including two guards, police said.<\/span><\/p>\n

[REUTERA\/Akhtar Soomro]<\/figcaption><\/figure>Additionally, Police added that two persons who <\/span>were injured<\/span>\u00a0in the suicide blast have been identified as 45-year-old\u00a0Noor Muhammad and Langar Khan<\/span>, while<\/span>\u00a0the persons who died in the incident have not\u00a0<\/span>been identified<\/span>\u00a0yet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Security forces and\u00a0rescue teams rushed to the\u00a0<\/span>site<\/span> shifting the foreigners to a safe place\u00a0<\/span>and<\/span> the injured to the nearby hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n

Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) DIG Asif Aijaz Shaikh told a local publication that another<\/span>\u00a0\u201c<\/span>suicide bomber<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>who was there for<\/span>\u00a0\u201c<\/span>backup<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>was gunned down by the Sharafi Goth police party patrolling the area at the time of the blast.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, any banned outfit has not claimed responsibility for a suicide attack so far.<\/span><\/p>\n

PM<\/span> Shehbaz, President Zardari condemns Karachi suicide attack<\/span><\/h2>\n

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday strongly condemned a suicide attack that took place in Karachi\u2019s Landhi area on foreigners, lauding the timely response by the police to avert casualties.<\/p>\n

In separately issued statements, both the president and prime minister said that the timely action by the police averted a huge life loss, and reiterated their firm resolve to wipe out terrorism from the country.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized that the government would not sit idle without eliminating terrorism and thwarting all the nefarious attempts to disrupt the country\u2019s peace.<\/p>\n
