NEW DELHI: In another attempt to sabotage an international cricketing event, team India might not participate in the ICC Champions Trophy scheduled for next year in Pakistan, sources within the BCCI told\u00a0<\/span>IANS\u00a0<\/span><\/em>on Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sources told the Indian news agency that the\u00a0<\/span>venue for the Champions Trophy\u00a0will likely get<\/span>\u00a0relocated\u00a0<\/span>or<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>a hybrid model might be considered<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0Since the 1996 World Cup, Pakistan\u00a0<\/span>is set<\/span>\u00a0to host an international cricket event for the first time\u00a0<\/span>and<\/span>\u00a0the major venues across the country are\u00a0<\/span>being upgraded<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, the likelihood of a bilateral series with Pakistan shortly appears slim after the England Cricket Board (ECB) offered venues for the Pakisatan-Indai Test Series.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi\u00a0<\/span>on Monday<\/span>\u00a0reportedly stated that they would consider the possibility of a bilateral series with India if India agreed to send their team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, sources in the BCCI said,<\/span>\u00a0“<\/span>Forget bilateral series…Team India may not even travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. There might be a change of venues\u00a0<\/span>or<\/span>\u00a0a hybrid model is also possible<\/span>.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“T<\/span>he Indian board would need permission from the government for travel<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>currently<\/span>\u00a0our relations with Pakistan are not that good either,<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>sources told\u00a0<\/span>IANS<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

India and Pakistan last played a bilateral series in 2012-13, when Pakistan visited India\u00a0for an ODI and T20I series.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year, Pakistan faced a setback after the Indian government refused to send an Indian team to participate in the Asia Cup, earlier scheduled for Pakistan.
