LAHORE: Chicken meat is one of the most consumed meats in Pakistan. The demand for poultry remains high throughout the year, as it is widely used in all kinds of dishes.<\/p>\n

Chicken prices massively increased after Eid-ul-Fitr 2024, breaking all previous records in Lahore, Punjab.<\/p>\n

While the Punjab Food Ministry has now announced a ban on the export of chicks while taking measures to deal with the increasing prices of broiler chicken.<\/p>\n

As per reports, the Livestock Department has prepared a proposal for the ban, which has been sent to the Punjab government for further consideration.<\/p>\n

According to media reports, the implementation of this ban is likely to reduce the price of chicken by Rs 200 per kg.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the escalating prices put a huge pressure on consumers\u2019 purchasing power, with the cost of poultry meat reaching Rs 650 to 800 per kg in the local market. This surge marks a 40% increase in poultry prices over the past month, exacerbating market volatility.<\/p>\n

Live Broiler (per kilogram) sold wholesale: Rs. 390
\nLive Broiler (per kilogram) sold in retail: Rs. 406
\nBroiler Meat (per kilogram) sold in retail: Rs. 612
\nEggs from farms (per packet): Rs. 6990<\/p>\n

These prices reflect the current market rates in the poultry industry.<\/p>\n
