LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) unanimously nominated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as the acting president of the party on Saturday.<\/p>\n

According to details, the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC) appointed Shehbaz Sharif as acting president until the party elections. An election commission had been set up to organize the PML-N’s presidential election on May 28.<\/p>\n

Party’s senior leader Rana Sanaullah had been appointed as the chief election commissioner for the appointment of the party’s president.<\/p>\n

Former three-time prime minister Sharif is likely to be elected as the interim party president years after he was deprived of the position through a Supreme Court decision in the Panama Papers case.<\/p>\n

After he was dethroned, his younger brother Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was elected as the PML-N president in March 2018. Nawaz has since then served as PML-N supremo \u2013 an office created to accommodate the party founder.<\/p>\n

However, Shehbaz Sharif tendered his resignation from the party\u2019s top position last week, as Nawaz Sharif is set to take the reins of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) president post.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
