LAHORE: The prices of broiler meat have witnessed a significant increase in Punjab province, here on Thursday.<\/p>\n

As per the details, in other markets of Punjab, including Lahore, the price of chicken meat has once again seen an increase, the public faced an unexpected burden due to inflation.<\/p>\n

Chicken meat is one of the most consumed meats in Pakistan. The demand for poultry remains high throughout the year, as it is widely used in all kinds of dishes.<\/p>\n

In late April and early May, the price of chicken dropped and was available at Rs 400 per kg. But within a few weeks, the price of chicken rose to Rs 120-150.<\/p>\n

Retailers in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad are violating the government price list by selling chicken meat at exorbitant prices.<\/p>\n

According to official rates, one kg of chicken meat costs Rs 438 while retailers are selling it at Rs 500-550 without disclosing the price in their shops. Citizens facing a hike in utility bills and other basic food items lamented price manipulation by the chicken mafia.<\/p>\n
